(This post is part of a series, for the series introduction and/or to begin at the beginning, please see Blogs My Wife Reads #1.)
Kelly the Kitchen Kop is written by Kelly Moggenborg. This makes for our third ‘Kitchen’ blog in a row!
Yes, the potential acronym is unfortunate, but then making things into acronyms is more of a man and/or military thing, I suppose mom bloggers don’t think about it like that as much…though at first glance this could be a military site, it’s got very aggressive styling! Aggressive for a mom-blog anyway, here is an ‘as of now’ current screenshot:
I like her ‘Butter Was Framed’ T-Shirt…Butter Believer should be selling those.
The police-theme is built around ‘Busting “politically correct” health and nutrition myths’, and seems to be predominately a ‘real food’ type of blog…which means Weston Price…which means Nourishing Traditions…which in turn means that stew probably has organ meats in it–wait are those raw eggs?!
…I guess they do cook them, if you click on the actual post and see the other pictures…but you never know with the Nourishing Traditions stuff.
Keeps you on your toes.
Anyway, in addition to being ‘Real Food’, there are some pretty aggressive (controversial?) articles in here…stuff I’m not going to touch with a ten-foot pole.
You clicked on that one, didn’t you? Yes you did. That whole section is pure controversy gold.
More touchable posts, and ones that I found particularly crunchy:
Mikey likes it! And that’s how it’s done folks, you leave for work with normal children, and by the time you come home your kids are begging for candy-flavored fermented fish oil. Sure, they don’t ever get sick anymore and their learning-disability has disappeared, but still…
There is a very handy resource page with links that are charted out in like a spreadsheet:
That is just a snippet, the whole thing goes on for a while, obviously a labor of love.
AND she has a very real, made of paper book! It’s also available as an ebook on Kindle as well:
Last but not least, Home Schooling!
FULL DISCLOSURE – I was home schooled for over a decade, and I turned out just fine (obviously).
FINAL ASSESSMENT: All these ‘Real Food’ / Nourishing Traditions blogs are batting first-string for Team Crunchy. So let’s face it: If your wife is reading this blog she’s already crunchy, you’ve lost that battle. However be aware that the additional Kontroversial Kontent might have your wife signing online petitions, marching on Washington, and/or get your whole family flagged on the no-fly list. Recommend stocking up on riot gear and avoiding international travel.
*After seven blog reviews I’m going to be taking a break and releasing some more ‘standard’ Dungeon content. Don’t worry, the blog reviews will return (with a vengeance!) but in the meantime, enjoy…
NEXT WEEK, ON THE CRUNCHY DUNGEON:
As I stood staring at the flat tire, my first thought was that it was some sort of cosmic crunchy punishment that I was using an SUV to drive two minutes to the acupuncturist instead of walking, pushing us all closer to the brink of the global warming apocalypse.
